Do you think the issue was down to the u-boot version or the embedded SoC shell tools? If the build process is like the Arria 10 one then the embedded shell tools generate the u-boot device tree. Did you see if this device tree changed between embedded shell tool versions? If not then it must be a u-boot fix.
