Using devmem2 to write to a register hangs the Stratix 10

Hello,

I am using the Stratix 10 and have devmem2 included in the Yocto build. I uploaded my bitstream through JTAG and was able to verify it was uploaded onto the board by checking the sysID with devmem2. However, when I want to write to a register, specifically, the control register of the msgDMA, the board hangs. Any ideas?
